TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — One local group is on a mission to ensure LGBTQ+ employees are included in their companies' policies.

On Monday, the United Partners for Human Services held a workshop where they discussed a variety of issues the community faces on and off the job.

They say policies need to be expanded to represent the people that are working for different companies and agencies.

More specifically, to update the language in those policy’s to represent the LGBTQ+ community.

They say a change in language lets employees know that their company cares about who they are.

This workshop encourages members of the LGBTQ+ community to make suggestions on how employers can create a more inclusive environment.

"People have been waiting for this type of a workshop to come out they want their agencies to move forward. They want to have an inclusive environment and invite more people to the table but they aren’t sure how and so this offered a good opportunity for everyone together to put their ideas out there and have a starting point."

Another major topic today was diversity. They say more companies have made goals to be more diverse but there is still room for improvement.

This meeting was a continuation of the Thought Leadership Forum that took place in December. They will continue these workshops and present recommendations to agencies on how to be more inclusive.
