TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — One church in the Capital City is trying to bring about youth gun safety to the community as they hosted a Toy Gun Buyback event Friday.

During the event, the North Florida Chapter of National Organization of Black Law Enforcement provided $100 gift cards to the first 100 kids who turned in their toy gun.

In addition to the gift cards, parents also were given information to help protect their kids, should there ever be a time when they disappear.

"We're actually going to be giving kids gift cards, if they turn in their toy guns, and we've got child ID," said Dewey Riou, Board Member of NOBLE. "We also have a bounce house, we've got food, and a DJ, and representatives from different law enforcement agencies here as well."

The event took place at New Mt. Zion AME Church.
