TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — A Tallahassee man is behind bars after deputies say he broke into his ex-girlfriend's home to attack her then attempted to bribe deputies to let him go with $20,000 when he was found hiding inside her car trunk.

According to court documents, Leon County deputies responded to Crossway Road in regards to a burglary that occurred Sunday night. Dispatch received complaints that the suspect broke into the home and attacked the victim.

When deputies arrived on scene, they immediately began speaking with the victim.

The victim told deputies that she was in her room when Kevin Anthony, 40, suddenly appeared in her room and jumped on top of her. Documents say while he was on top of her he was yelling that she was cheating on him.

The victim told deputies that Anthony then took her cell phone away from her. Anthony tried stealing it, but the victim knocked it out of his hand.

Before he left the home, documents say Anthony threw his cell phone at the victim's chest. Seconds after leaving the home, he reentered to grab his cell phone and left again. After speaking with the victim, deputies got a description of Anthony and began searching the area for him.

While searching the area, deputies found Anthony walking in the area of Orchid Drive. They gave him commands to stop but instead he quickly walked behind one of the nearby homes.

Minutes later, deputies received another call from the victim saying she had just seen Anthony in her front yard walking around.

In the end, Anthony was found hiding in the trunk of the victim's car. Anthony told deputies that he was hiding in the car because he couldn't find a ride, so he got in the trunk to sleep for the evening.

Based on evidence found during the investigation, Anthony was arrested and transported to the Leon County Detention Center.

Deputies say while they were transporting Anthony to the detention Facility he offered deputies $20,000 to let him go. He also stated to deputies, "I can give you the biggest dope dealer in town," adding he could buy drugs from this person in exchange for his freedom.

Court documents also revealed that Anthony is currently on probation for an aggravated assault charge and is listed as a "violent offender of special concern."

He is facing a series of charges including burglary with assault or battery and trespassing structure or conveyance. Due to the statements Anthony made on the way to the detention facility, he was additionally charged with bribery of a public servant.
