SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — The Suwannee County Sheriff's Office has announced the passing of their former K9, Marley.

In 2006, Marley was adopted from the Suwannee County Animal Shelter by Deputy Wayne Kelly and his family.

SCSO says Wayne quickly realized how smart Marley was and began training her in hopes of her becoming a SCSO K9.

In 2008, that dream came true and Marley became a certified narcotics detection K9 and joined Wayne while he patrolled Suwannee County.

During Marley's time on Patrol, she assisted SCSO and other law enforcement agencies and was responsible for locating numerous suspects, as well as detecting thousands of dollars worth of illegal narcotics.

Marley earned a well deserved retirement in 2006.

SCSO says Marley lived a good life in her retirement.

Wayne's family gave her plenty of love along with some of her favorite foods such as deer sausage.

SCSO stated "Marley is going to be missed by Wayne's family as well as all of us here at the SCSO, she had an amazing personality and often hung out with us here in the squad room."
