Suwannee County announces three new drive-thru COVID-19 testing sites

SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Suwannee County's Department of Health has announced three new temporary drive-thru testing sites in an effort to contact trace after 628 positive COVID-19 cases.

Authorities say individuals do not need an appointment to be tested. Individuals can also be tested without having any signs or symptoms.

A valid ID is needed to be tested and individuals must remain in their vehicles at this testing site.

Individuals can expect to be screened by a health care professional and will need to provide ID and basic health information.

An oral or nasal swab test will be administered.

This is not a blood test checking for antibodies and the test results are not immediate.

After taking the test, individuals will be given information on what to do while awaiting the results.

Testing sites are staffed by health care professionals in medical protective gear who are trained to test for COVID-19.

Below is a list of dates and locations for the drive-thru testing:

  • July 10, 17, 24, and 31

North Florida College Gym, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
325 NW Turner Davis Drive, Madison, Fla.

  • July 11

Loughridge Park, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
W 15th Street, Perry, Fla. (off US 98)

  • July 14, 28

Suwannee Coliseum, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
1302 11th Street SW, Live Oak, Fla.

  • July 21

Suwannee Coliseum, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
1302 11th Street SW, Live Oak, Fla.

DOH-Suwannee is preparing to provide a limited drive through COVID testing event on Tuesday July 7, 2020 from 8am-10am at the Coliseum (first 200 individuals)provided the weather cooperates.
