LIBERTY COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — The Liberty County Sheriff's Office says the suspect in the suspicious incident at Liberty County High school was actually a parent picking up their child.

In a Facebook post, LCSO shared that the suspicious manw as actually a parent.

"It was a parent retrieving their child's vehicle from the student parking lot without going through the proper procedure and checking in through the office," deputies wrote.

They say the school has resumed its regular schedule and there is no ongoing threat to campus.

The Liberty County Sheriff's Office is currently on scene at Liberty County High School after a suspicious person was reportedly spotted on the south end of the campus.

The suspect is described as a heavy-set white man who was wearing black and driving a motorized scooter.

At this time, Liberty County High School has restricted the movement of students on campus.

The sheriff's office also has additional deputies on school grounds and has begun a search for the suspect.

On Wednesday, extra deputies were on campus due to a possible threat of violence directed at the high school. The source of that threat was identified as a17-year-old student who could be facing criminal charges.
