TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — After a month-long campaign, StarMetro wraps up its annual Stuff the Bus Food Drive to see how the community can come together for a great cause.
A 35-foot bus was filled to the ceiling with food donations and weighed more than 5,700 pounds. This will provide more than 4,700 meals to families in need.
"This spring is typically a hard time for Second Harvest with terms of trying to raise money and food to come in so we can feed people, so this is a really helpful food drive for us it comes at a really good time," said Rick Minor, CEO of Second Harvest of the Big Bend.
America's Second Harvest of the Big Bend serves residents in 11 local counties. Over the past year, Second Harvest distributed more than 11 million pounds of food through its partner agencies, totaling more than nine million meals.
