Strong storm winds cause damage in Jefferson County

MONTICELLO, Fla. (WTXL) — Parts of Monticello were hit pretty hard during Wednesday's storm with areas off Paul Thompson Road and Clinton Road seeing the most damage.

Those winds knocked trees down, damaging houses and fences.

We spoke to one person who has lived in the area for quite some time.

She says she's never seen anything like this in her own backyard.

"We knew the weather was coming in real hard, and then we heard different things bumping and grinding real hard, and falling on the house."

While some people thought the damage might be caused by a tornado, the National Weather Service says that was not the case and the damage is due to extremely strong winds.
