TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The state of Florida and the state workers union met for a final time Tuesday.

The final negotiations were held between the state and state workers union AFSCME. The next step is to take the union's proposal to the legislation.

The Union will appear in front of the state legislation on January 23rd.

One state worker said that it would be better to settle Tuesday versus letting this go into the legislation session.

"In a sense, it really doesn't benefit us to have certain articles go to the legislator," said Natasha Grant, a state worker. "We would like to resolve them here first because it goes back to the state's last offer."

There is a chance that the legislation will accept what the union proposes.

By state law, state workers are not allowed to strike. Their only other option will be to re-open negotiations later on this year if they do not like the final decision.
