TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Roads will be closed in Southwood as trick-or-treaters get ready to come out for candy.

Southwood posted a list of road closures Thursday and they will last until 9:00 p.m. The community says people who live in the area will be able to get through with proof of residency.

Residents of Southwood are used to it by now as this neighborhood has been closing down these roads for many years now.

People from all over the Big Bend come to Southwood for Halloween as parents feel that this is one of the safest neighborhoods for trick or treating, thanks to these road closures.

The Tallahassee Police Department will have 18 officers working with Parking Enforcement Technicians and Special Events Traffic Assistants to help with the trick or treating in Southwood.

We spoke to one of the homeowners in the community, who has lived in Southwood for ten years now, and says she is very proud of her neighborhood.

"10 years we enjoy it we sit here in the chair, and some friends came until 9/9:30 and give them the chocolates," said a Southwood neighbor.

We also spoke to an employee from the Southwood Community Development District who said his office is urging neighbors to be careful while riding golf carts.

If you live in Southwood and you need to get home from the office, the officers can help direct you to make that happen.
