Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued in South Georgia

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Lanier and Lowndes Counties until 4:30 p.m. Expect heavy rain, thunder and lightning, and wind gusts up to 60 mph.

National Weather Service reports seeing winds in excess of 60 mph on radar passing just south of Valdosta and moving into Lake Park.

These storms will move out of Lowndes and Lanier Counties in about 30 minutes. A storm moving through Madison County is also severe and will be exiting the county by 4:30 pm.

Storms over Apalachee Bay and Taylor County are strong with winds of 40-50 mph and continue to move east.

Storms will move into Lafayette and Dixie County by 5 p.m.
