TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The Providence Neighborhood Association teaming up with Second Harvest of the Big Bend to make sure their community doesn't go hungry.
Next door to Providence Baptist Church, members and leaders are working together to distribute food to the neighborhood.
This month marks the second time they’ve teamed up with Second Harvest to distribute food but it’s a little different from most food distributions.
“There is definitely a need for food during this time period, and our neighborhood is a walking neighborhood," said Walter McDonald, the president of Providence Neighborhood Association. "And most of the models for Second Harvest are drive thru, so we’re actually doing a delivery service to people in the neighborhood, actually delivering door-to-door to their houses, a box of food to them so they’ll have it.”
They are conducting about 350 home deliveries on Wednesday.
The group also gave away masks to each household while delivering the boxes of food.
