TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — On Thursday, 400 families that were served at the Spanish Seventh Day Adventist Church thanks to the Second Harvest of the Big Bend.

Every family received a week's worth of food.

The church has been working with the Second Harvest for years but the pandemic increased its services.

Volunteers say they went from serving 60 families a week to now more than 300 and they're happy to do their part during these difficult times.

"It's just a very special feeling to be able to give back to the community in a time where it is not getting much better for a lot of us," said one volunteer.

If you missed Thursday's event and are in need of food, Second Harvest will be at the Wells Fargo on 19-97 Capital Circle and in Wakulla County at the Crawfordville United Methodist Church on Friday.

Both events run from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
