TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — An early Christmas gift to keep feeding families.
Second Harvest of the Big Bend receiving a $35,000 donation from Wells Fargo Thursday.
This donation is part of Wells Fargo's "Many Hearts. One Community" campaign.
The money will help provide more than 100,000 meals to people in need for the holidays.
Monique Van Pelt, CEO of Second Harvest says with food insecurity on the rise this year, the donation is will help a lot of families.
"This is what is a game-changer for us and helps us feel more stable as we move forward month after month in our response. So sometimes we have to walk in faith and trust that there is another stepping stone for us and moments like this prove that that's the case," Van Pelt said.
The donation was a complete surprise for CEO Van Pelt.
Second Harvest is already seeing an increased need for food this holiday season.
