TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Second Harvest of the Big Bend is forming new community partnerships in their efforts to better feed communities in need.

They took 500 prepared boxes of food to the Tallahassee Urban League Office in Frenchtown Tuesday morning.

Representatives from the Housing Authority met them at the office to pick up the distribution kits.

Urban League Executives saw the Second Harvest distribution as an opportunity to give out a few other needed items as well.

"We are so thankful for Second Harvest, this is our second opportunity to work with them in providing needed food to our services, and so we can't thank Second Harvest enough," said Curtis Taylor, the president and CEO of Tallahassee Urban League. "In addition to that, we have the Doctors Association with Dr. Blackshear and several doctors that gave a donation, so we were able to get some diapers so we can get people that need diapers. Also, we're giving out masks."

The Urban League is currently working with Second Harvest to offer additional food pantry services Monday through Friday starting July 1.
