LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. — A school threat made against Lowndes Middle School is under investigation.
The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that someone contacted them about a threat against Lowndes Middle School made by a juvenile on social media.
The sheriff says deputies searched the suspect's home and questioned both the suspect and the child's parents.
"If they put something like that on Facebook, somebody's going to call it in, somebody's going to call 911 thankfully they will," said Lowndes County Sheriff Ashley Paulk. "We encourage them to, and we get something like that we're going to treat it very seriously, and if you're a juvenile you'll go the same route this man went, but if you're 17 or older in Georgia you could very well end up spending the night in the jail down here."
Lowndes County Schools returned to class on Wednesday.
School officials said even though the suspect is not enrolled in Lowndes County Schools, they will have an increased law enforcement presence.
