TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Salvation Army needs your help spreading holiday cheer this holiday season.

Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign helps keep the doors to the Salvation Army open all year.

The fundraiser kick off will start Saturday at Bass Pro Shop off of Lagnaippe Way.

Money raised will help give people utility assistance, food, clothing vouchers, after school programs, and more.

Employees are urging people to come donate as the need for help in our area is high.

"A lot of people don't realize that our city has one of the poorest zip codes in the state of Florida. Children everyday go to school hungry," said Amber Meo, Co-director for Salvation Army for the Wakulla, Gadsden and Leon area. "Parents have to choose between paying a light bill and buying school supplies, but the Salvation Army is uniquely positioned to come into contact with people who are in great need every single day."

The fundraiser will start at 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
