TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Sabal Palm Elementary students had the opportunity to receive free eye exams and glasses as part of a partnership with Miami Lighthouse and the Florida Heiken Children's Vision Program.

Sabal Palm Elementary is a community partnership school where students are supported through wellness, expanded learning, and parent engagement.

"It was open to the whole school; however, they had to fill out a one-page application and out of that we got about 100 students that responded and parents that called in and filled out over the phone," said Makayla Bentley, the Community Partnerships Wellness Coordinator. "We have now, probably about 200 students here at the school where half of them have been seen already."

Bond Dental, another community partner, will also visit the school this month to provide students with dental services.
