Report: State COVID-19 positivity stagnant as community spread risk increases in local counties

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — A new weekly White House Coronavirus Task Force Report obtained by ABC News shows significant changes for the Big Bend and South Georgia.

Many local Florida counties had their COVID-19 community spread risk advisory changed in the new report:

  • Gadsden: Moved from Moderate to Low risk
  • Hamilton: Moved from High to Moderate risk
  • Jackson: Moved from Low to Moderate risk
  • Jefferson: Remained at Moderate risk
  • Lafayette: Added to High risk
  • Liberty: Added to High risk
  • Madison: Moved from Low to Moderate risk
  • Suwannee: Remained at Low risk
  • Taylor: Moved from High to Moderate risk
  • Wakulla: Moved from Moderate to Low risk

With the exception of Dixie County, every county in the state of Florida now has 101 to 199 new cases per 100,000 or 200 to 499 new cases per 100,000.

The local counties in the 200 to 499 new cases per 100,000 range are Franklin, Gadsden, Wakulla, Taylor, Hamilton and Suwannee. Local counties in the 101 to 199 new cases per 100,000 range are Jackson, Leon, Jefferson, Madison, Liberty and Lafayette.

The state of Florida has also had a drop of 0.1 percent in positive tests, and an increase of two percent in hospitalizations since the previous week, according to the report.

Many local counties in Georgia have also had their COVID-19 community spread risk advisory changed as well:

  • Berrien: Remained at High risk
  • Brooks: Added to High risk
  • Cook: Moved from Moderate to Low risk
  • Colquitt: Remained at Low risk
  • Grady: Added to Moderate risk
  • Lowndes: Remained at High risk
  • Mitchell: Added to Low risk
  • Seminole: Moved from High to Low risk
  • Thomas: Moved from Low to Moderate risk

The local counties in the 200 to 499 new cases per 100,000 range are Berrien, Tift, Cook and Seminole. Local counties in the 101 to 199 new cases per 100,000 range are Lowndes and Brooks, and in the 51 to 100 new cases per 100,000 range is Thomas.

The state of Georgia also had a drop of 0.1 percent in positive tests, and a decrease of two percent in hospitalizations since the previous week.
