GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Problematic bridges are something people in Gadsden County know all too well, and Hurricane Michael didn't help.

The category 5 storm in 2018 caused damage to more than a dozen bridges across the state, including three in Gadsden County.

Thursday, Governor DeSantis announced funding to rehabilitate two of them: Juniper Creek and Little River.

But there is another culvert that's also causing some headaches.

Hutchinson Ferry Bridge has been closed since last August. Public Works says construction could be ongoing until October at the earliest.

People in the area say they're sick of waiting for it to be done. Cesenia Lawson, has lived in Midway more than 20 years.

"This road was an easy road to go grocery shopping, but now I have to go up 90 so it's going to be a little inconvenience because I take my kids to school this way, too," Lawson said. "Now, we have to go on 90."

Across the county in Midway, Little River's construction doesn't have a timeline yet. Repairs on Juniper Creek are expected to finished by May.
