TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The Tallahassee Urban League, Bill Proctor and other local leaders had a press conference about the future of Frenchtown on Tuesday.
Proctor and others demanded a call-to-action on Frenchtown, which they think needs more community input.
The press conference also highlighted a town hall meeting this Thursday.
A local leader says the town hall will allow the community a chance to give a different perspective on the area.
"When planes are being implemented, those who actually live in the area where those plans are taking place. They are not the individuals who have had very much input into those plans," said Jerome Nones, with the Tallahassee Urban League.
The town hall will be at Watson Temple Church at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening.
Proctor also called for the suspension of Tallahassee Police Chief Michael DeLeo.
Proctor cites a complaint by the group Concerned Employees for Diversity at TPD. That complaint alleges discrimination against black employees at TPD.
Proctor also says the city commission should put plans for a new TPD headquarters on hold until the complaint is investigated.
