TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Florida State University teamed up with the Save the Children emergency preparedness program to Tallahassee by hosting a "Prep Rally" event geared toward elementary school children.
Its an interactive event geared toward elementary school children, to teach them basic steps when preparing for a disaster.
The Prep Rally featured basic "prep steps," using engaging games and activities that bring concepts to life and make disaster preparedness fun for kids.
Faculty of the FSU College of Social Work say it’s important to teach kids about emergency preparedness because it benefits everyone.
"Well, kids are important for any important message because a lot of times they're the one's that will communicate important messages to the parents," said Ellen Piekalkiewicz, with FSU's College of Social Work.
Children were included by using games and activities that bring concepts to life and make disaster preparedness fun.
