Power outages in south Georgia due to severe weather

LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) — The National Weather Service says the severe weather has ended across the area for Wednesday evening.

Earlier a severe thunderstorm produced a possible tornado in southern Berrien County, Ga. near Ray City and tracked into Lanier County.

The NWS will conduct a damage survey Thursday or Friday.


The National Weather Service has issued severe weather warnings for south Georgia, and there are reports of power lines down in Lanier County.

In south Georgia 39 power outages are affecting 2,151 utility customers.

Lanier Couty: 43 outages, affecting 2,138 customers

Clinch County : 4 outages, affecting 638 customers

Lowndes County: 1 ourage, affecting 46 customers

Tift County: 1 outage, affecting 22 customers

Berrien County: 2 outages, affecting 578 customers
