VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) — A 19-year-old woman is behind bars after police say she got into a taxi in Valdosta and robbed the driver at gunpoint.

The Valdosta Police Department says officers were called to the 300 block of Blitch Street on Tuesday for an armed robbery. When they arrived, the victim, who is a local taxi driver, told officers that he was robbed by two people he picked up.

Once the passengers got inside the cab, the driver said the female passenger pulled a gun on him and demanded money. The pair then took an unspecified amount of money and ran from the cab.

After issuing an alert to law enforcement agencies in the area, VPD says a Georgia State Patrol trooper spotted the female suspect, 19-year-old Amelia Hall.

When the trooper detained her, he found evidence that connected her to the armed robbery.

Based on the evidence, Hall was arrested for armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

The case is still under investigation and further charges are pending. Anyone with information is asked to please contact the Valdosta Police Department at 229-242-2606 or the Crime Tip Line at 229-293-3091.
