Police: Valdosta man approaches victim, stabs him in torso

VALDOSTA, Ga. — A Valdosta man has been arrested after stabbing a victim walking down the street.

Quadir Powell, 30, was arrested on Tuesday.

On Tuesday at about 8:15 p.m., an aggravated assault occurred in the 2100 block of West Hill Avenue.

The Valdosta Police Department says the victim was walking in the area when he was approached by Powell, who was holding a knife. Powell stabbed the victim in the torso and immediately ran from the scene.

The victim got into his vehicle and called 911. He was transported to SGMC where he was treated for a non-life-threatening stab wound.

After being located by a Lowndes County deputy, Powell was taken into custody and transported to the Lowndes County Jail.

He is being charged with felony aggravated assault, felony possession of a knife during the commission of a felony, and giving false name.

“Thankfully this offender was quickly taken into custody thanks to the Police Officers and Deputies working together. We appreciate the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department in providing assistance in this case” Lieutenant Scottie Johns with VPD.
