CAIRO, Ga. — A Grady County elementary school was placed on lock down as a precaution as police searched for a possible suspect in a Cairo shooting.

CPD said they were working a scene in the 800 block of 8th Ave NW Wednesday morning after a person was shot during a home invasion around 12:00 a.m. Tuesday.

The victim was taken to Archbold in Thomasville.

According to CPD, as they were working the scene, bonding recovery agents from Florida were in the same neighborhood looking for an individual, who CPD felt may be involved in the shooting.

They said the individual ran towards the area of Northside Elementary School, so police notified the Grady County Board of Education Police as a precaution and they implemented a lock down procedure until there was no longer a threat.
This is a developing story.
