PERRY, Fla. (WTXL) — Police are investigating reports about a group of scammers who've been going around collecting victims' insurance information to fix broken windshields and billing the victims' insurance company without doing the work.
The Perry Police Department says they received about people attempting a local insurance scam.
They say two people have been walking up to people at the Walmart in Perry, at apartment complexes and have been knocking on doors.
Police have received Information that two women have been making rounds, but they could possibly be more. The women claim to work for “At Home Auto Glass” out of Sarasota, Florida.
The women inform the victim that their windshield is damaged and offer to fix the windshield for free. They say the women then collect insurance information from the victim and bill their insurance company without completing the work.
At this time, police don't have a vehicle description associated with the scammers. They say they are working to identify the suspects.
