VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) — A man was arrested after police say he assaulted and attempted to rob a woman in the parking lot of South Georgia Medical Center.
According to the Valdosta Police Department, an officer was working an off-duty security detail at South Georgia Medical Center, when he was notified that a woman had been assaulted in the parking lot on Wednesday evening.
The victim told the officer that a man, later identified as 20-year-old Jarvis Johnson, walked past her, but then turned around and shoved her to the ground before running away.
VPD says responding officers were immediately notified of the Johnson's description.
Shortly after the Johnson was captured and detained.
Police say the investigation revealed that Johnson was trying to steal the victim’s purse.
Johnson was transported to Lowndes County Jail on multiple charges including felony attempted robbery and battery.
