VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) — A 20-year-old man is behind bars after officers say he shot at a man who confronted him about stolen money.

On Saturday at approximately 10:15 a.m., the Valdosta Police Department responded to the 2400 block of Knox Drive reference to a person shooting at another person.

The victim told officers that he was in his vehicle talking with 20-year-old Kahlil Williams when suddenly, Williams snatched money out of his hand and ran away.

When the victim went to Williams’ residence to confront him about taking his money, the victim said Williams came outside of his home with a handgun. The victim then ran from the home as Williams was shooting at him.

VPD says officers were able to find Williams and the suspected weapon at the location the victim mentioned. He was taken into custody without incident.

No injuries were reported.

Williams has been charged with robbery by sudden snatching, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Deputies believe this was an isolated incident.

“ If you are a victim of a crime contact your local law enforcement and let them resolve the situation. This will help ensure you are not putting yourself in any unnecessary danger. We greatly appreciate the citizens that came forward and assisted our Patrol Officers in bringing this case to a quick conclusion,” said Lieutenant Scottie Johns.
