Police: Man, juvenile charged with aggravated battery after shooting child in Quincy

QUINCY, Fla. (WTXL) — A 19-year-old and a juvenile has been arrested in Quincy after police say they shot a child in the hand over the weekend.

On Saturday, around 2:40 p.m. officers from the Quincy Police Department responded to shots fired in the 1300 block of Elm Street in Quincy.

When they arrived, officers found a juvenile victim who was shot in the hand. That juvenile was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries from the gunshot wound.

Later that day, 19 year-old Markevius Street was arrested for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm in public. He was booked into the Gadsden County Jail.

On Tuesday, the younger brother to the previously charged suspect was arrested.

Investigators say the juvenile suspect was also charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm in public.

He was booked in the Juvenile Assessment Center in Tallahassee.
