THOMASVILLE, Ga. — One man is in jail after police say he assaulted the mother of his child and kidnapped his 4-year-old child.
Police say on Sunday night, Marco Hayes went to pick up his car from a house on Raleigh Avenue, where his child lives with the child's mother.
The mother told police that Marco came inside, pushed her down and started hitting her. He then proceeded to take her wig and burn it.
Investigators say he also pushed the child and then took that child away from the house.
"We see domestic violence but not to this extent. He went overboard. He let his anger get a hold of him and he wasn't able to keep it in check," said Sgt. Scott Newberry of the Thomasville Police Department.
Thomasville Police eventually found the child with a family member.
Investigators found Marco down the road and arrested him.
