SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — A Live Oak man has been arrested after being accused of assaulting a victim with a hammer.
The Suwannee County Sheriff's Office says Derek James Platt, 32, was arrested Thursday night.
Deputies they responded to a home in the 22900 block of 130th Terrance about a disturbance. When they arrived, they spoke with the victim, who had visible injuries, and several witnesses.
Through an investigation, they learned that Platt had hit the victim with a hammer on the side of their body and punched them in the face after pushing them down.
Based on the evidence, Platt was arrested and charged with aggravated battery.
