TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — A former FSU quarterback has been arrested after police say he attacked a Lyft driver during a ride.
Court documents say on Jan.23, a victim reported to Tallahassee police that she had been attacked by a stranger while working as a Lyft driver.
The victim told police that Wyatt Sexton, 34, got in the front seat of the vehicle and began waving a lighter in her face and up and down his own body. Police say the victim felt uncomfortable but continued driving.
Documents say as the driver approached the Tallahassee Police Department, Sexton began yelling and screaming telling her to drive somewhere else. Sexton then grabbed the victim by her hair and started pulling as she drove past the police station. Police say he also yanked her arm and continued screaming until the ride was complete.
During the investigation, the victim was able to identify Sexton in a photo line-up. Due to being arrested in the past, police were familiar with Sexton and were able to follow up with him on April 30.
During a phone call, Sexton claimed he didn't know anything about the incident and denied attacking anyone.
According to documents, Sexton was arrested and transported to the Leon County Detention Facility on Monday. He is being held without bond on a battery charge.
The former quarterback has had multiple run-ins with the law in Leon County. Court documents say Sexton was previously arrested an assault related charge in 2016 and for hit and run incidents in 2011 and 2012.
Despite his criminal past, Sexton is a well-known former FSU quarterback who also attended Leon High School. During his college career, Sexton racked up several impressive stats while he played for the Seminoles from 2004-2005.
