TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The victim in the College Club Townhomes incident was not hurt from a gunshot, but from a shattered piece of broken tile due to someone accidentally firing a gun from the floor above.
The Tallahassee Police Department said they responded to College Club Townhomes in reference to a victim who was injured by something falling from the ceiling.
When the Tallahassee Fire Department arrived on scene, they found a bullet hole in the ceiling and a projectile was found.
The victim was initially believed to have sustained a gunshot wound and was subsequently taken to a local hospital as a trauma alert.
Officers learned that before the incident, a person was handling a gun in a second-floor bedroom. TPD says that person accidentally fired the handgun, which caused a projectile to go through the second story floor.
According to TPD, when the projectile entered the below living room, it hit the tile floor and caused it to shatter.
Preliminary findings determined that the victim was hit with a piece of broken tile and did not sustain a gunshot wound. The victim has since been released from the hospital.

According to the Tallahassee Police Department, they responded to a shooting at College Club Townhomes in the 2800 block of Adams Street at about 3:03 p.m. Friday.
When officers arrived on the scene they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a local hospital but is expected to be okay.
