One killed in Valdosta house fire

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) — One person is dead after a fire broke out at a two-story home in Valdosta early Thursday morning.

The Valdosta Fire Department says they were called to a structure fire in the 200 block of Troup Street around 3:07 a.m.

The first fire unit arrived within four minutes to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the home. They say both floors of the two story residence were engulfed in flames.

Fire crews worked quickly to bring the fire under control. One person was located by VFD but died from the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
