GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — The Florida Highway patrol says one woman is dead and one man is suffering from serious injuries after a motorcycle crash in Gadsden County over the weekend.
The accident occurred Saturday afternoon around 3:11 p.m. on I-10 at Mile Marker 169 in Gadsden County.
Troopers say a two-wheeled motorcycle was traveling westbound on I-10 in the outside westbound lane.
The motorcycle suddenly overturned onto it’s left side, traveled northwest across the paved emergency lane, and traveled onto the side of the road.
FHP says the motorcycle then began to overturn left-over-right and both riders were thrown from the vehicle.
The motorcycle came to final rest on the north shoulder, laying on it’s right side.
Both the driver and passenger landed not to far from the motorcycle.
The passenger identified as Leslie Johnson,64, was transported to Gadsden Memorial Hospital where she died from injures sustained during the crash.
The driver, James Johnson,67, was transported to Tallahassee Memorial with serious injuries.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
The Florida Highway Patrol was assisted by the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office, Gadsden County EMS, and several motorists who stopped to render aid.
FHP says there are pending charges for traffic homicide investigation.
