TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Learning something new and saving the environment at the same time, that's the goal of a new program in Tallahassee.
YEL or Young Environmental Leaders group, aims to stimulate and direct the environmental interests and passions of children in elementary, middle and high school.
YEL will provide settings for students to stretch their creativity, engage their interests and understand that their voice in society can be heard.
"You see kids getting wild up about things like plastic, like pollution. You can feel it getting hotter and I think a lot of kids don't understand the power that their voice carries," said Christina Mbuya, Associate Director of Education at ReThink Energy Florida. "I think they care about the environment and this is a way they can express their passions."
