TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Monday, leaders of the Big Bend Minority Chamber of Commerce announced a partnership with Walmart to award micro-grants to local women and minority-owned businesses across the Big Bend area.

The BBMC says the COVID-19 Business Recovery Assistance Grants are intended as a support mechanism to help small businesses sustain operations during the coronavirus pandemic.

The application process is open on the BBMC’s website and will be available through July 10, 2020. All women and minority-owned businesses in the five-county Big Bend Region may apply.

“Right now, in the five counties we serve, small businesses are hurting,” said Sean Pittman, Founder and Chairman of the BBMC. "This is a positive step we can take to make sure that our minority and women-owned businesses have the support they need to survive these difficult times. The BBMC was founded to stand in the gap for our business community and give a fighting chance to those small businesses who need it the most – and this program is just another way of fulfilling that mission.”
