TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Almost a year after the shooting at Hot Yoga Tallahassee, one of the victims is being recognized in a new medical center.

Capital Health Plan held a ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday to reveal the new Metropolitan Health Center.

This 72,000 square foot facility also contains the Nancy Van Vessem Center for Healthy Aging. Van Vessem is a former Chief Medical Officer for Capital Health Plan.

John Hogan, President and CEO for Capital Health Plan, says this space is a great way to remember Doctor Van Vessem.

"But at the end of the day, Nancy always had a bright smile on her face and she just through that I think that everybody's interaction was more positive," said Hogan. "You don't ever forget that so that's something that's going to be remembered I think by everybody that worked closely with her as a professional."

Besides the center for Healthy Aging, the new health center includes urgent care, primary care, lab work and imaging such as X-ray and ultrasound.

The space is off Thomasville Road, right there at the I-10 exit.
