TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Apalachee Center has added to their facility.

Community leaders joined staff as they cut the ribbon for the Behavioral Excellence and Care for Children's Health wing, better known as BEACH.

The new addition has 12 beds and brand new furniture for children with psychiatric illnesses.

Dr. Jay Reeve, Apalachee Center President, says the addition is right on time for the community.

"We have been seeing what we expected which is a pretty steady uptick in kids coming for service since the opening of school," said Dr. Reeve. "Which is usually how that works so this is exactly the time of year we need these new beds."

The BEACH wing will start accepting patients on Monday morning.
