MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — A Madison County deputy has been involved in a crash after a high-speed chase extended from Gainesville through Lee.

The Madison County Sheriff's office says the Florida Highway Patrol was involved in a high speed pursuit that started in Gainesville and stretched into the east end of the county coming into the Lee community area.

MCSO deputies immediately responded to assist and became actively involved in the pursuit.

A pursuing deputy was involved in a single vehicle crash on CR 255 at the intersection of Canoe Trail. The fleeing suspect crashed moments later on CR 255 at the intersection of Magnolia.

The driver of the fleeing vehicle was taken into custody and transported to the Madison County Jail. The deputy received minor injuries to his hand.

Deputies say there is no active threat to the Lee community, though they are advising everyone to use caution on 255 South in the area of Lee United Methodist Church.
