WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — A 60-year-old motorcyclist is in serious condition after being hit by a car on Crawfordville Highway.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the crash happened on US 319 (Crawfordville Highway) and Edgewood Drive in Wakulla County on Thursday.
They say a 1996 Jeep Cherokee with three people inside and a motorcycle were both traveling northbound on US 319 in the northbound lane when the motorcycle tried to turn left onto Edgewood Drive.
The driver of the Jeep didn't slow down enough to avoid a rear-end collision, causing the front of the Jeep hit the back of the motorcycle. Officials say the motorcycle slid on its right sidein the middle of both lanes before coming to a final rest facing west.
Troopers say the motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. Authorities say no one inside the jeep sustained injuries.
