MONTICELLO, Fla. (WTXL) — A Monticello man was arrested by Florida Department of Law Enforcement officers on Friday for allegedly possessing child sexual abuse material.
According to FDLE, 24-year-old Stephen James Monroe II possessed videos of children as young as eight years old being sexually exploited on his computer after a search warrant was conducted at his home.
The investigation also showed that Monroe was also live chatting with juveniles on the Omegle social media platform.
The investigation began with a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding an internet user uploading child sexual abuse material to an online account, according to FDLE officials.
Monroe was arrested Friday on five counts of possession of child sexual abuse material and booked into the Jefferson County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security Investigations assisted with the search warrant and arrest.
