JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — A Marianna man is dead after a live power wire fell on him when he tried to have a load of dirt delivered to his home.
The Florida Highway Patrol says that the incident happened Friday morning on Mission Road and Turk Road in Jackson County.
They say a dump truck was delivering a load of dirt to 73-year-old Larry Brock's home that morning. While dumping the load, the truck pulled forward and raised the dump bed to ensure all the dirt was off-loaded. However, the dump bed got entangled in a power line overhead.
As the dump bed was lowered, the power line broke and fell, landing on Brock, who was standing nearby. Troopers say Brock died at the scene after touching the live power line.
FHP says the incident is under investigation and charges are pending.
