Marianna arrest leads to evidence from other burglaries

MARIANNA, Fla. (WTXL) — A man was arrested after police say he burglarized the Marianna Cinemas.

According to the Marianna Police Department, officers responded to Marianna Cinemas on February 21, 2021, in reference to a burglary.

When they arrived on the scene, officers found that the suspect used a tool to break into the cinemas. Once the suspect entered the building, he rummaged through several desks inside the offices located within the cinemas. The suspect then jumped over the counter into the concession area where he proceeded to steal candy.

According to the report, officers and investigators identified 25-year-old Devin Hires as a person of interest. After conducting a review of video footage and acquiring statements, officers located some of the stolen items at a secondary location. Based on the information obtained, a warrant was applied for and issued, charging Devin Hires with burglary with a weapon, criminal mischief and petit theft.

Hires was located at his residence on Jackson Street and placed under arrest for the warrant.

There, investigators located more evidence from other burglaries within the city. At this time, those cases remain under investigation and more charges are pending.
