CAIRO, Ga. (WTXL) — A man accused of murdering an 86-year-old man in Cairo over the weekend has been arrested.
On Sunday, March 3, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested to assist the Cairo Police Department with an investigation into the murder of 86-year-old Jimmy Lee Bryant.
Bryant was shot and later died in the yard of his MLK Jr. Drive residence in Cairo.
Authorities then interviewed witnesses at the scene and determined an ongoing domestic dispute had started earlier in the afternoon that eventually led to the shooting.
Based on the evidence gathered, the GBI found probable cause to charge 31-year-old Derrick Clark of Donalsonville in connection to Bryant’s death.
He was arrested in the Whigham area by Grady County deputies shortly after the fatal shooting took place. Clark was arrested without incident and taken to the Grady County Jail where he remains.
Clark has been charged with felony murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.This case is active an ongoing.
