TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A bill we're watching closely, a ban on texting while driving.
Demetrius Branca started the Anthony Phoenix Branca Foundation to fight for more legislation to end distracted driving after a distracted driver killed his son.
Branca visits schools and other organizations to talk about the dangers of distracted driving.
He also spends his time at the Capitol, presenting data that the foundation has worked on about why legislation is crucial.
The most recent texting and driving bill passed will give officers the power to stop someone if they see them texting and driving.
Branca says the bill is a start, but more can be done.
"I would argue that it's a step forward into the 90's, and not into today. I think we know what needs to happen, we need hands free for Florida," said Branca. "Our people deserve but our politicians at the capitol are not interested in that."
Branca says that he intends to keep pushing lawmakers for stronger distracted driving laws.
He's already preparing his points for next year.
