LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — A 61-year-old man has been hospitalized after being accidentally ran over by a Leon County patrol car while lying in the driveway of a local business.
The Leon County Sheriff's office says the accident happened around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. A deputy was pulling into the parking lot of a business in the 1500 block of Blountstown Street to complete a report when it happened.
While pulling in, the deputy didn't see 61-year-old David Newman lying in the driveway of the business near a dumpster and accidentally ran over Newman.
The deputy, who's been identified as Tyson Workman, immediately stopped the car, rendered aid to Newman, and called an ambulance. LCSO says Newman was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is listed in stable condition.
LCSO's Traffic Unit responded to take over the investigation.
