TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The Tallahassee Police Department has identified the missing man who was found dead inside a pond near FAMU Way and Pinellas Street earlier this week.

Police say they were called to the area just after 9 a.m. on Aug. 18 when a City of Tallahassee work crew found the body.

An investigation followed and on Friday, police identified the deceased person as 22-year-old Alex Grant. TPD says Grant had been reported missing to the Leon County Sheriff’s Office the day before he was found inside the pond.

Although the case is still under investigation, police say an initial review of the evidence does not indicate any signs of foul play.

The Tallahassee Police Department and the Leon County Sheriff’s Office offer their condolences to Grant’s family and friends.

They say LCSO will assume the remainder of the investigation.

Anyone with information on this case is urged to contact the Leon County Sheriff’s Office at (850) 606-3300.
