CAMILLA, Ga. — A man has been charged after a fatal hit and run on Highway 19 in Camilla on Sunday.
Jonathan Sykes, of Yuma, Arizona, has been taken into custody and is now in the Mitchell County Jail.
According to the Georgia State Patrol trooper who worked the crash, Sykes admitted he was driving the car that hit the pedestrian.
A man who was staying at a hotel with Sykes was taken in for questioning, but was later released.
Sykes was arraigned on Tuesday on the following charges: first-degree homicide by vehicle, felony hit and run, DUI, driving on a suspended license, and driving with expired tags.
Sykes bond has been set at $30,000.
